On my recent trip to Port Douglas in Queensland I got to go snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. I'm a reasonable swimmer, but I have a fear of deep water, so it took me awhile to get used to the fact that my feet CAN'T reach the bottom. I feel really silly, because I also had panic attacks every time I put my head underwater, because I felt I couldn't breathe, when really I could breathe just fine. So I ended up taking photos by shoving my disposable waterproof camera under water and hoping for the best. After my film had run out, and I'd been out there for awhile, I calmed down and I actually swam around with my head underwater. It was simply the most amazing experience of my life. Nothing can describe how beautiful it was. No photo can do it justice. The size of it all is really overwhelming, and if any of you ever go to that part of Queensland, you simply MUST do a reef tour. I demand of it! I want nothing more than to go back there and do it all again, and I will when I finish school and have worked for a bit. It's the first thing on my to-do list.

I could have fixed the colours on this photo to make it less BLUE but I feel it's better like this. It shows what it's really like. Colours are very quickly dulled out under water, and it was extremely blue due to the dead coral sand stuff. I did contrast it a bit though, because the photo is kind of blurry. Most likely because the waves were biggish, so I got knocked about a bit while trying to actually take the photos. Plus I had to scan, and scanner's make everything look worse. So yes. That's my story.
